Vessel tracking is the practice of following a ship's position, course, speed, and port calls over time using AIS broadcasts and other position sources. Overwatch combines live positions with historical tracks so analysts can reconstruct voyages, estimate arrival times, and detect behavior changes — including unexplained gaps or route deviations.
